Terms of Service
Last updated: July 3, 2026
1. The service
EloLeak ("the service", "we") is a chess improvement tool: it analyzes publicly available chess games with the Stockfish engine and produces reports, opponent scouting summaries, training positions and email reviews. The service is operated by the publisher of the EloLeak newsletter. Contact: support@eloleak.com.
2. Access and billing
Access requires an active paid subscription to the EloLeak newsletter, billed by Substack Inc. through its payment processor. Prices, billing cycles, cancellation and refunds are governed by Substack's own terms; you can cancel at any time from your Substack account, which ends your app access at the close of the paid period. We never see or store your payment details.
3. Your account
Sign-in uses one-time email links; you are responsible for the security of your email inbox. You may connect chess platform usernames (your own or, for scouting, other players' public usernames). You agree to only submit usernames whose games are publicly available.
4. Data sources
Game data comes exclusively from the official public APIs of Lichess and Chess.com. EloLeak is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Lichess, Chess.com, Stockfish, or FIDE. Platform names are used for identification only.
5. Acceptable use
No scraping of the service, no reselling of reports, no use of the service to harass other players, and no automated bulk requests. We may suspend accounts that abuse compute quotas or degrade the service for others.
6. No promises about your rating
Reports are statistical analysis of past games. They do not guarantee rating gains or game outcomes. Training suggestions and book mentions are editorial opinions.
7. Warranty and liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amounts you paid for it in the three months preceding the claim.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these terms and the feature set; material changes will be announced by email or on this page. You may stop using the service at any time; section 2 governs billing.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
